Sometimes I just want a nice boy who makes me happy when skies are gray.
green rolling hills
the view from a mountain top
uncontrollable laughter
cocktail makin’ and booty shakin’
adrenaline highs
picnics in the park
strong hands
kind eyes
heart flutters
{you}
When I am hit by the waves of loneliness (or worse, emptiness); when they pick me up and swirl me around until it feels like my whole world is off-balance, I do things I know will set it right again: I light a candle, open a book, put on music that speaks to my heart, sit in the sunshine, fill a vase with flowers, write away the afternoon…
Or, when all else fails, I close my eyes and dream…
Now is the time: to focus, to challenge, to create, to hope, to imagine, to dream, to transform, to become.
The time to live out loud.

I wrote this a few months ago, but I could use another reminder:
You can choose to see chaos as frightening and unmanageable, or you can choose to see it as infinite opportunity and adventure. Take charge. Have a vision. Have faith in that vision. Work hard. Be resourceful. Ask questions. Pick a perspective and craft that chaos into something great.
I was feeling a little glum, so I took a walk around the neighborhood and got myself a bouquet of cheery peach-colored tulips, a candle that smells like the ocean, a book of Mary Oliver’s poetry, yummy mediterranean food, and a stack of cards to send to dear friends. Retail therapy at its absolute finest.

“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.” - Paulo Coehlo, The Alchemist
Be an alchemist. Take your future - that raw, unrefined ore of possibility - and refine it. DEFINE it. Create it. Mold it. Transform it. Then go out and paint the world with your gold.
